Larsen's ambition was to develop a new innovative string synthetic core with relatively low string tension, yet capable of producing a rich, exceptional sound with great volume. The string plays easily and also has a remarkably good string response and reliability.

The string set is composed as follows:

• E-string is made of carbon steel;
• The A string is made of a multi-strand nylon core and wound with a flat aluminum wire;
• The D and G-strings ares made of a multi-strand nylon core and wound with pure silver;
• All A, D, and G strings are fitted with a ball and the E strings are available with both a ball and a loop.

Relative to the Larsen Tzigane violin set, the Virtuozo violin set has a slightly lower string tension.
