Vioolwereld is designed for students aged 7 and up and is written so that no prior musical knowledge is required. The method is suitable for both individual and group lessons. Anyone using Vioolwereld will discover just how refreshing this new approach is. For the student, every page holds a new surprise; they learn something different each time, and no two pages are alike in content. Teachers, too, will be pleasantly surprised by the well-thought-out structure—organized into specific categories—and the coherence between them.
In this way, Vioolwereld bridges the gap between traditional learning via notation and learning by ear—as practiced in the Suzuki method and in pop, jazz, and folk music.
Volume 1
It is immediately apparent that, initially, students are guided by playing exercises rather than musical notation, and that this method offers more text, photos, and finger-placement charts than other teaching materials. Students only begin working with standard notation after a few months. In addition to the book, the method includes a website where demo and backing tracks can be downloaded, along with demonstration videos and PDFs containing accompaniment parts for violin or piano.
Part 2
This part of the method includes call-and-response exercises, simple technical tasks, and songs that can be played from memory. To ensure students know exactly what to do when practicing at home, the exercises are described in precise detail—using text, photos, and tablature—and are often supported by demonstration videos.
Compared to Part 1, this second volume contains more songs and exercises written in standard musical notation.
