The Suzuki Method is a music teaching method developed in Japan in the mid-20th century by Shinichi Suzuki. Suzuki noted that children learn their native language very quickly, with little chance of failure, through daily repetition and practice. In a similar way he also tried to teach them music. His method, which he called talent education, is based on this principle of natural learning. Emphasis is on continuous exposure to music, repetition of lesson material, alternation of individual and group lessons, elements of play in music lessons, and active involvement of the parents. Children sometimes start playing an instrument when they are three years old. The method was originally developed for violin education, but the principles are also applied for education in other instruments, and outside music education.
