Countess Maria Theodora Paulina "Dora" Pejačević (1885-1923) was a Croatian composer, pianist and violinist and one of the first composers to introduce the orchestral song to Croatian music. Little is known about the history of her Cello sonata, but it is collectively agreed that her works reflect deeply the styles of late Romantic music, with expressive melodies coloured with interesting, yet unexpected harmonic changes.
