The Shadow violin/viola pick-up system is an active system, which is mounted under the pillars of the bridge/bridge and, according to the manufacturer, produces 'zero' noise and/or hum. Shadow's Nanoflex technology makes no compromises in preserving the original sound of the violin/viola. It is built to authentically reproduce the instrument's vibrations with every movement of the bow in all positions. An instrument modification is not necessary and was a must in the development of this absolutely noise and hum-free pick-up system. Nanoflex pickups not only pick up the vibrations of the strings like "ordinary" pickups, which are mounted under the bridge, but Nanoflex also detects the vibrations of the strings and the body of the instrument at the same time. Owing to active amplification directly at the pick-up and 100% shielding of the entire system, no sound is lost and no hum will arise.
