Pirastro Wondertone Solo string has a newly developed synthetic core with the following properties:
The standard set includes a silver-plated E string, an A-synthetic core with aluminum winding, and silver D and G-wound strings.
The steel A string has a brilliant and very crisp tone, allowing for an easy transition to the E string. This string combination was frequently used in the Russian tradition, including by David Oistrakh, who used Pirastro G and D gut strings combined with steel A and E strings.
All A, D and G strings are fitted with a ball, whereas the E string is available with both a ball and a loop.
The E string is also available as an "Advanced Steel" string – with a rounder and warmer tone. Gauges: 0.26 and 0.267mm. The A string is also available with a steel core.
