Pirastro Passione violin strings offer a full, round, and warm sound with a complex overtone spectrum. They combine the traditional depth of gut with great projection, a fast response, and a significantly shorter play-in time than classic gut strings.
The sheep gut core is manufactured, wound, and polished by hand in the traditional way.
Sound & Playing Characteristics

- Play-in Time: Significantly shorter than with traditional gut strings; the strings are stable and playable almost immediately.
- String Tension: An adjustment of the gauge by 1/4 PM changes the string tension by 3%.
Special Features
- Silking of the G-string: The colored silk on the peg-end is shorter than on the A- and D-string to prevent breakage in the pegbox. After a maximum of two to three days, the stretching process is complete and the silk no longer goes over the nut.

- All A, D, and G strings are equipped with a ball-end, and the E-string is available with either a ball-end or a loop-end.
