Pirastro Passione violin strings have a sheep gut core, which is hand wound. The strings have a fascinating variety of timbres, which gives the violinist many possibilities. In addition, the strings give a full, warm, brilliant, powerful and clear sound. The strings are stable very quickly and easy to tune. The following versions are available, in five (5) string tensions:
- E string : silver steel ball-end or loop-end (string tension soft. medium & strong);
- A string : gut core with aluminum winding (string tension 13, 13 1/4, 13 1/2, 13 3/4 or 14);
- D string : gut core with silver winding ball-end (string tension 13, 13 1/4, 13 1/2, 13 3/4 or 14);
- G string : gut core with silver winding ball-end (string tension 16, 16 1/4, 16 12, 16 3/4 or 17);
- All A, D and G strings are fitted with a ball, whereas the E string is equipped with either a ball or a loop.
