Pirastro Oliv "Stiff" violin strings are strings with a gut core, wound with a metal wrap. The strings have a fascinating variety of timbres, which offers the violinist opportunities to explore the boundaries of the timbre spectrum. With the correct bowing technique, the strings produce a full, warm, brilliant, powerful and beautiful sound, and are very quickly stable and easy to tune. Compared to the Oliv violin string, the "Stiff" version sounds a bit darker and more powerful. The following versions are available in the extra soft, soft, medium, strong and extra strong diameter/string tension, indicated in PM (Pirazzi meter = 0.05 mm) and are supplied in plastic tubes:

• D string : gut core with gold/aluminium winding (diameter 16 1/2, 16 3/4, 17-medium or 17 1/4);
• G string : gut core with gold/silver winding (diameter 15 1/2, 15 3/4, 16-medium, 16 1/4 or 16 1/2).

The medium versions are kept in stock; other versions have a slightly longer delivery time.
