Pirastro Oliv viola strings have a sheep gut core, which is hand wound. The strings have a fascinating variety of timbres, which offers the viola player opportunities to explore the boundaries of the timbre spectrum. With the correct bowing technique, the strings produce a full, warm, brilliant, powerful and beautiful sound, and are very quickly stable and easy to tune. The following versions are available in medium, strong and soft diameter/string tension, indicated in PM (Pirazzi meter = 0.05 mm):

• A string : sheep gut core with aluminum winding, ball-end (13 1/2, 13 3/4 & 14 PM);
• D string : sheep gut core with gold/alu wrap, ball-end (16, 16 1/4 or 16 1/2 PM);
• D string : sheep gut core with silver winding, ball-end (14, 14 1/4 or 14 1/2 PM);
• G string : sheep gut core with gold-silver winding (16 3/4, 17 or 17 1/4 PM);
• C string : core of sheep gut with gold/silver winding (19 1/2, 19 3/4 or 20 PM);
• SET with D string gold/alu.
