Pirastro Oliv cello strings have a sheep gut core, which is hand wound. The strings possess a fascinating variety of timbres, offering the cellist opportunities to explore the boundaries of the timbre spectrum. The strings produce, with the correct bowing technique, a full, warm, brilliant, powerful and beautiful sound and are very quickly stable and easy to tune. The following versions are available, in medium, strong and soft diameater/string tension, indicated in PM (Pirazzi meter = 0.05 mm):

• A string : sheep gut core with aluminum wrapping, ball-end (22, 22 1/2 or 23 PM);
• D string : sheep gut core with aluminum wrapping, knot-end (26 1/2, 27 or 27 1/2 PM);
• G string : sheep gut core with silver wrapping, knot-end (28, 28 1/2 or 29 PM);
• C string : sheep gut core with silver wrap, knot-end (35 1/2, 36 or 36 1/2 PM).
