Product description

"Finally, a bow that can do it all!"

Countless musicians worldwide, at every level, have likely had exactly this thought when they played a Müsing bow for the first time. It sits incredibly firmly on the string, yet simultaneously responds instantly to command, sounds beautiful, is robust and weather-resistant, and is, moreover, superbly finished. Naturally, it produces no vibrations or weak notes, but plays purely and clearly in every register. Ultimately, it relieves the bowing hand and arm, ensuring that no fatigue sets in even during the longest concerts and rehearsals.

Müsing has been producing carbon fiber bows since 1999 and Müsing bows since 2017. With nearly three decades of intensive research and development, we have built up a unique wealth of knowledge that enables us to create truly perfect bows. As musicians, we can finally dedicate ourselves fully to the music, our fellow musicians, and our audience, with the utmost confidence that our bow can handle anything. Müsing bows are the perfect instrument for every string player, from the student playing their first "full-fledged" instrument to the orchestral musician, for music of every genre and from every era.

Available types:

C-Series:

Compared to the best traditional wooden bows, the C-series violin bows offer 50% more tension. As a result, they bounce perfectly and enable a very powerful playing style without hitting the strings with the bow. This prevents damage to the bow hairs and ensures that the sound always remains clear and pure. Weighing approximately 54-55 grams, they are about 10% lighter than conventional wooden and carbon bows. This makes them faster, more comfortable, and ensures an extremely natural, relaxed, and dynamic playing style. Their lower weight is also one of the reasons for their excellent sound and response. The sound of the Müsing C bows is just as rich in overtones as that of the best wooden bows, just as warm, full, and expressive, yet brighter and less noisy. Their modulation capability allows for very colorful and expressive playing. Thanks to their excellent projection, you will be able to assert yourself easily even in challenging acoustic conditions.

The 4 different classes differ not only in their characteristics but, above all, in their sound. The C5 plays in the same class as the best pernambuco bows and is therefore perfectly suited for professional musicians, not only as a second bow or travel bow but also for daily use in the orchestra. At the other end of the spectrum, the C2 is superior in every respect to virtually all "normal" carbon bows and comparable to wooden bows that are twice as expensive. The C3 and C4 represent the mid-range segment with a fantastic price-performance ratio and a sound that even the most demanding musicians will enjoy. The C-series bows are available in the following frog versions, where the synthetic part of the bow is identical.

  • C2 Ebony frog, Nickel-silver parts, Stainless steel winding;
  • C3 Ebony frog, Stainless steel parts, Aluminum tension screw and mother-of-pearl eye;
  • C4 Snakewood frog, Stainless steel parts, Aluminum tension screw and Mother-of-pearl eye;
  • C5 Ebony frog, Silver parts and Mother-of-pearl eye.
L-Series:

Compared to the best traditional wooden bows, the C-series violin bows offer 50% more tension. As a result, they bounce perfectly and allow for very powerful playing without the bow hitting the strings. This prevents damage to the bow hairs and ensures that the sound always remains pure and clear. Light and powerful, agile and robust, smooth and stable, flexible and strong—the new L-series bows combine qualities you normally do not find in a single bow.

With wooden bows, you can normally only go one way: lighter means softer, stronger means heavier. The reason for this is that you can only shave wood away from the outside of the solid wooden stick, turning the bow into either this or that.

The way we harness the incredible potential of carbon fibers is by creating a thin-walled, hollow stick and placing exactly the right amount of fibers in exactly the right direction. This gives us perfect control over all the properties of the stick. For the L-series, we have reduced the wall thickness to well under 1 mm to increase the overtone range and reduce weight.

The L bows are designed and made for professional musicians, enthusiastic amateurs, and ambitious students. More agile and faster than the C bows, they have an even more open and colorful sound. The latter goes far beyond the capabilities of wooden bows.

The top models, the L5 and L6 in particular, are more than sufficient for any musician, for any style and any occasion, and are absolutely suitable for competitions and auditions. Compared to the Arcus bows, the L bows have a comparable weight. However, they are more flexible and therefore more forgiving in their playing style, at the cost of slightly less precision and pure power.

The L3 and L4 excel with a clear and colorful sound. Something of this quality is virtually impossible to find in wooden bows. As for "normal" carbon bows, save yourself the trouble of finding something that can match this. At the other end of the spectrum, the L5 and L6 excel with a sound and power that is perfect for playing in a string quartet or for leading a string section, and all at an incredibly affordable price.

The L-series bows are available in the following frog designs. The synthetic part of the bow is identical.

  • L3 Ebony frog, Nickel-silver parts, Stainless steel winding, Aluminum turnbuckle;
  • L4 Ebony frog, Stainless steel parts, Aluminum turnbuckle and Mother-of-pearl eye;
  • L5 Snakewood frog, Stainless steel parts, Aluminum turnbuckle and Mother-of-pearl eye;
  • L6 Ebony frog, Silver and Mother-of-pearl eye.

Ti-series:

Building on the L-series, Müsing has added something extra: a titanium tip! Just like the aluminum tips of the L-series, they are 3D-printed. Titanium is naturally even stronger and harder than aluminum, and the point plates look absolutely beautiful. In terms of sound and playability, there is no huge difference compared to the L-bows, but these bows are truly something special, and many musicians have already fallen in love with them. T-bows are just as ideal for professional musicians as they are for amateurs, schoolchildren, and students. They play beautifully, sound great, and are virtually indestructible. If you want to give the luxury of L-bows an extra special touch, T-bows are absolutely the right choice.

The Ti-series bows are available in the following frog designs. The synthetic part of the bow is identical.

  • Ti3 Ebony frog, Nickel-silver parts, Stainless steel winding, Aluminum turnbuckle;
  • Ti4 Ebony frog, Stainless steel parts, Aluminum turnbuckle and Mother-of-pearl eye;
  • Ti5 Snakewood frog, Stainless steel parts, Aluminum turnbuckle and Mother-of-pearl eye;
  • Ti6 Ebony frog, Silver and Mother-of-Pearl eyes.

Some musicians have bought a Ti3 as a second bow, only to discover that they actually prefer playing with it to their primary wooden bow.

The Ti4 has such a classic, elegant appearance that it is easy to underestimate. You can really rock with it – or play with restraint. Everything feels effortless, and it sits so naturally in your hand that you can fully concentrate on your playing and your music.

You could easily call the Ti5 a "magic bow." With its snakewood frog, it is enchantingly beautiful – and it plays and sounds that way too. You have probably never played or heard a bow that surpasses it, and for such luxury, it is almost too affordable to believe. Let yourself be enchanted.

The Ti6 is a true jewel, both in terms of sound and appearance. With this, you can get sounds just as beautiful out of your violin as with a Tourte or Peccatte. But it is faster, more comfortable, more reliable, and even more powerful, in terms of both sound and playability. With the Ti6, you always make an impression and know how to enchant your audience.
