Pirastro Oliv strings are the flagship among Pirastro's gut core strings, beloved for their complex, rich sound and the ability to fine-tune the string tension with great precision (per 1/4 PM).
The sheep gut core is manufactured by hand in the traditional way, wound, and polished.
Key Features & Sound
- Sound Character: These strings offer the typical, beautiful gut sound: brilliant, rich in overtones, and complex.
- Oliv "Stiff": Compared to the standard Oliv violin string, the "Stiff" version sounds slightly darker and more powerful.
- Precise Tension: A change in thickness (gauge) by 1/4 PM (Pirastro Gauge) alters the string tension by 3%.
