Franz Wohlfahrt (1833–1884) was a violin teacher in Leipzig, Germany. His famous 40 Elementary Studies for Violin, Op. 54, are still frequently used by violin and viola students and offer further variety and bow combinations from the 60 études. In addition to the usual détaché numbers, there are further legato studies with dotted rhythms, including a study in the mazurka style.
