Jan van Beekum (The Hague, August 16, 1918 – Dieren, November 29, 2001) was a Dutch composer and conductor. As an eleven-year-old member of a small working-class family, Jan van Beekum played the clarinet in various local wind orchestras. Alongside his work as a typographer in a printing house, he studied music theory and piano at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (supported by his employer). He successfully completed his studies in 1945.
