A new addition to the product range of Strijkinstrumentshop.nl is the horn/trumpet violin; also called Stroh violin. The trumpet or horn violin has the same length as a normal violin, but instead of a sound box, a horn is provided, which produces a directional sound. The structure of the instrument is based on the tungsten element of a gramophone. The vibrations of the strings and bridge are transmitted through a thin rod to the diaphragm of the gramophone element. The diaphragm converts these vibrations into sound waves, which are amplified by the horn. Very suitable for folk or other types of music that are mainly played outside. The horn amplifies the volume of the sound and therefore the range of the sound is wider than that of a traditional violin. The set comes with a bow, rosin, cover and shoulder rest.
