Our rental violins come in four quality classes. All classes are handmade and well set up. The difference is in sound and playability, not in build quality. For the first year, Budget or Advanced is more than enough; you can always move up.

Collect in The Hague or shipped anywhere in the Netherlands

Collecting is free and fastest: the right size is usually in the shop. Shipping is possible anywhere in the Netherlands; the violin goes well packed in a box by PostNL, DHL or DPD.

• Collect in The Hague without an appointment free

  Prins Mauritsplein 19, Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 16.30. We adjust the violin to the player on the spot; often you can take it home the same day. Bring a form of ID.

• Shipped to your home € 9.95

  Anywhere in the Netherlands, by PostNL, DHL or DPD. Keep the box: you use it again to send the instrument back or exchange it. For shipping you pay the first quarter in advance and email a copy of your ID.

• Insurance and maintenance

  For € 2 to € 7 per month you are insured against damage and pay nothing extra for maintenance, such as replacing strings or having the bow rehaired. Read what is and is not covered.

• Rent by the quarter

  Three months is the minimum rental period; after that the rental continues per quarter. There is no need to give notice: bring the violin back and the rental stops, including the direct debit.

• Not in stock? Join the waiting list

  The right size is usually ready and waiting. If not, submit your request anyway: you go on the waiting list and we let you know as soon as the violin is available.

How much does it cost to rent a violin?

Violin rental costs € 8 to € 40 per month with us, depending on size and class. You pay quarterly in advance. For most violins there is no deposit; only for Premium from 7/8 and for Premium+ 4/4 a one-off deposit is added, which you get back when you return the instrument. The prices below are starting prices per month, including VAT; the starting amount for each size and class is in the price table below the worked example.

We rent Premium+ in 3/4 and 4/4, Premium from 1/16. In 1/32 we rent Budget.

Which violin size do you need?

Choose the size that fits best and we check it when you collect or before shipping. When your child grows out of it, we change the size for free, at any time. Violin sizes run from 1/32 to 4/4.
