Our own workshop
Bridge, soundpost, strings and pegs are adjusted before an instrument leaves the shop, and again when you change size. That is why we choose European instruments: Dutch teachers prefer them, and we can maintain them.
Only in the Budget class do we sometimes use instruments by Stentor, Gewa or Leonardo.
You do not rent a bare instrument but a complete set, ready to play at the first lesson.
Strings by D'Addario, Thomastik, Pirastro, Jargar or Larsen; fine tuners on the tailpiece. Four quality classes, from Budget (purchase value from € 250) to Premium+ (up to € 6,000); the instrument page tells you which class suits whom.

For € 2 to € 7 per month you are insured against damage and pay nothing extra for strings or rehairing the bow. Read what is covered.
Three months is the minimum rental period; after that the rental continues per quarter. Bring the instrument back and the rental stops, including the direct debit.
The right size is usually ready and waiting. If not, submit your request anyway: you go on the waiting list and we let you know as soon as the instrument is available.

Age and arm length determine the size. The size chart is on every instrument page and on Find your size; if in doubt, we measure in the shop. When your child grows out of it, you change size for free.
Budget, Advanced, Premium or Premium+. For the first year, Budget or Advanced is more than enough. Each class says who it is for and what it costs per month.
You fill in the request with your choices and a preferred start date. Collection in The Hague is free; shipping costs € 9.95, delivery € 14.95. You pay the rent quarterly in advance, and any deposit once.
Not for most violins and violas. For cellos and double basses there is: € 100, 200 or 300 depending on the class, and up to € 500 for Premium+. You get the deposit back when you return the instrument.
Yes. If you want to keep the rental instrument, you get a discount on the purchase price depending on how long you have rented. Ask in the shop for the current arrangement; rent-to-own is also possible.
Yes. Three months is the minimum rental period; after that the rental continues per quarter until you bring the instrument back. For a trial period, a course or a project that is usually just right.
